Hello! I am Erika Hillstead, a thirty-something educator, writer and traveler who rents apartments, visits at least one new place a year and has never been married. I love hosting dinner parties for family and friends, cheering on the Giants at AT&T Park, binge-watching Netflix series and drinking double tall vanilla lattes.
I studied Mass Communication Studies at UCLA and received my teaching credential from UC Davis. I am currently a Master’s Candidate at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, focusing my studies on the creation of emotionally safe classroom spaces and new teacher education. I taught high school history and psychology for seven years in Northern California’s East Bay Area and recently returned from an emotionally intense year teaching middle school students in Cairo, Egypt.
I live in Cambridge, Massachusetts. My five year plan includes living in Brooklyn, New York, teaching internationally in Latin America and moving back home to where I left my heart…San Francisco.
